Workshop 1 | Participatory Budgeting

Increased citizen participation has long been encouraged by scholars and practitioners. It is seen as a way to foster good government, to increase social justice, and to help individuals become more informed citizens. This workshop is aimed at examining how citizens can be better contribute to local government participatory processes. Build participant’s capacities on good practice in participatory local governance and suggest more inclusive criteria for effective participation.


Workshop 2 | South African Local Government Results Based Budgeting

Date: 14th November 2018

This workshop aims to equip participants with measures in budget allocation and implementation by drawing on the many dimension of budgets and their effects on gender equality. It will focus on how to develop and implement a logical framework which links gender related budget inputs to implementation activities.


Workshop 3 | Gender Budgeting

Date: 14th November 2018

GRB can be defined as the incorporation of a gender dimension into the government budget process that includes planning, drafting, implementing and evaluating to ensure that budget policies take into consideration gender disparities.

The workshop aims to capacitate participants on two fronts. Firstly on strategies to encourage women to become involved in participatory budgeting efforts in which citizens interact directly with government on budget matters. Secondly the workshop will equip participants with technical information on gender disaggregated budget and programmatic information.


Workshop 4 | Gender based development planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation

Date: 14th November 2018

The above revised topic deals with issues of gender from a systemic approach. The discourse on gender may respond to current gender related theory, international and national normative framreworks, national and sector strategy, institutional application of gender issues in programme and projects.
